I just got the UP2718Q.
Getting HDR to work with Mass Effect Andromeda was a pain.
I had to downgrade to an earlier driver for my GTX 1070, then use HDMI and select 420 12bit. There is no 420 10bit option.
While in HDR, you can't select much of anything on the monitor as it's busy processing the HDR metadata.
Once I got it working, the game looked great.... but it didn't blow me away like I was hoping it would.
It did look worse when i switched back to SDR, but not "$2000" worse.
Colors in general look great.
FALD does help with contrast and blacks but there is some haloing when bright objects are up against blacks.
IPS glow isn't terrible but it's still there when displaying near black shades.
No backlight bleed. (obviously)
Input lag is low. About 10ms in 1080p. (leobodnar tester) Not sure about other resolutions or HDR but I didn't notice any additional lag if there is some.
The response time is listed as 5ms. I didn't notice terrible ghosting while playing games.
It seems to use a flicker free backlight.
All in all... it's no OLED but it's a great IPS monitor.
I think HDR for gaming is over-hyped.
HDR in videos was a bigger improvement. |
